Two Summer Essentials Belles Combines: The Summer Self-Reliance Station and 50 Ways to Add Spontaneity to Your Daily Life
11 July, 2024 • Par Natacha Langlois
When school holidays finally arrive, several things often come to mind: the need to rest, the need to take time for yourself, the desire to experience memorable moments with your family, the desire to have children who will be able to occupy themselves independently during these many free moments, the need to keep everyone fit and safe, and more! To help you satisfy at least some of these desires, we have two perfect tools to offer you!
The summer autonomy station (and its portable version!)
One of the most repeated phrases by parents during the summer season? "The door!!!" Children come and go multiple times during the day, more often than not forgetting to close the door and take off their shoes, letting in mosquitoes, sand and other elements of nature, to the great dismay of parents who are then forced to clean up the mess thus caused. To avoid this situation, but also to ensure that your children become independent in terms of well-being and safety during the summer season, we suggest that you set up your summer autonomy station as soon as the first days of good weather arrive.
What to put in it?
First, get an IKEA-type cart or a box where you can put all the necessary materials so that your children can do by themselves what you usually have to repeat several times during the summer .
- A large size of sunscreen (ideally with a pump for easy serving!)
- The poster “My sunscreen routine”
- A Time Timer (which will allow children to respect the 15 minutes necessary to allow the cream to penetrate before swimming)
- A bottle of mosquito repellent (citronella, so that children can apply it safely on their own)
- Cap, hat and sunglasses for each child
- A bottle of water for each child (to be filled halfway the night before and placed in the freezer before filling the other half the same morning for water that is always refreshing!)
- Two snacks for each child (one for the morning and one for the afternoon)
- A watch or clock (to check if it's time for snacks or dinner, for example)
Not only does this autonomy station make everyday life easier, but it also allows children to develop their autonomy and be proud of being able to organize themselves alone, like adults ! To find the complete list and make sure you keep your inventory up to date, download our handy little trick !
And, because summer also means lots of trips to the park and the beach, we also thought of creating a list of its portable version !
