Do you like traditional macaroni and meat? Do you also like sloppy joe? Combine these two dishes and make this comforting and economical dish, where you will find ground beef, colorful peppers, chili sauce and tomato sauce: a macaroni ideal for the lunch box or for busy weeknights!

  • Ingredients

    • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
    • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 1 red pepper, chopped
    • 1 chopped yellow pepper
    • 450 g (1 lb) raw macaroni
    • 1 cup (250 ml) chili sauce
    • 1 cup (250 ml) tomato sauce
    • 2 cups (500 ml) water
    • 3 cups (750 ml) beef broth
    • 3 tbsp (45 ml) Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Preparation

    1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, heat the oil and cook the ground beef, onion and garlic for 5 minutes.
    2. Add the other ingredients. Bring to a boil.
    3. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes or until pasta is al dente.

    To use leftovers:

    1. Replace ground beef with the same amount of leftover meat or legumes.
