The baby essentials of our collaborators

10 March, 2022

The essentials to have for the arrival of baby, some can be very different from one person to another. There are objects which seem essential to us and which, once the baby has arrived, are completely useless to us. There are others that we didn't want to buy, seeing no need for them, and that we quickly went to get. It can be difficult to predict the items we will need, it all depends on the choices we make for ourselves and our children. We created our list of essentials with this in mind.

We asked our collaborators to provide us with a list of their 5 to 10 essentials to have to welcome baby. Here are their suggestions!

  3. A nursing pillow (buckwheat shell)
  4. A sheathing panty , for comfort and without the expectations of slimming down anything :)
  5. My 1 liter water bottle by my rocking chair
  6. A rocking chair
  7. Nursing tank tops that I wear under all my sweaters
  8. A coat extender
  9. Dr.Jack Human cream for irritated nipples

Name: Laurence Morency-Guay

Age: 32 years old

Mom: 2 children aged 2 and 4.

Company: Parent Who Learns

Here are my essentials:

  1. A bouncer : so practical for installing baby when you want to free your arms! Without forcing a posture, the small net hammock adapts to the shape of the baby by straightening it comfortably! A must here!
  2. Bottles : one regret for my first baby was not being equipped for anything except breastfeeding. I had to make this purchase at the last minute, stressed and postpartum. Just having some on hand if something sticks can be comforting, in my opinion!
  3. A white noise machine : here it has always helped for the sleeps!
  4. A diary : I didn't want to forget anything, I wrote down everything and I'm so happy to have this to look at with them to remember these precious moments.
  5. A Snuggle me : it comforted my daughter so much the first few months when we put her in there, it was like a constant hug for her dodos!

Name: Elizabeth Alescio

Age: 40 years old

Mom: 2 children aged 6 and 9.

Here are my essentials:

  1. Nipple shields for breastfeeding : when you are breastfeeding and the baby dies the nipple and makes it bleed, this product saves your life to continue breastfeeding! here is an example
  2. A baby fly
  3. Medela cream
  4. A booster seat for a chair : so practical when you go to dinner with friends or family.
  5. Fennel water : for digestive problems and for colic – truly miraculous!

Name: Julie Tremblay-Potvin

Age: 38 years old

Mom: 2 children aged 5 and 8.

Company: De Saison

Here is my list of favorites and essentials that combines simplicity, softness and comfort to take advantage of the #white time that parental leave can offer us (in the best moments). :

  1. The Stokke high chair with the baby seat (maybe not essential, but a favorite). Compact, pleasant to look at and super practical to have baby at our height without having to take up space on the table.
  2. A warm cover for the stroller, perfect to encourage us to go out in winter, skate, walk, while baby takes a Scandinavian nap.
  3. A baby carrier, to walk in the forest (ergobaby) and have your hands free (bamboo sling or ringsling) when baby demands our closeness.
  4. Books, because it's never too early for books.
  5. Pacifiers, comforters and soft clothes that work with any occasion.
  6. Everyday objects to handle in all the rooms when baby grows up, to avoid running after toys, I had some of them, well hidden in beautiful baskets or I caught decorative objects adapted to the baby to occupy him (coaster, measuring cups).
  7. A cooler bag that can be put in the freezer and in which you can easily transport bottles and food.
  8. A bottle dryer that beautifies our counter instead of making it look cluttered (White Boon).
  9. A small speaker to play the music of Rock-a-bye baby or Alexandra Stréliski, thus creating a soothing atmosphere for babies and parents.
