Suggestions for activities for couples: for an hour, a day or a weekend!

31 July, 2023

You want to rekindle the flame of your union or make sure to keep some time as a couple through your parental responsibilities, but you don't have anyone to babysit for more than 24 hours, or even for a single afternoon? Here are some ideas for activities to do according to your situation and that will adapt to your reality, whatever it may be!

You have babysitters for a full weekend (lucky you!!!):

  • It's a timeless classic: treat yourself to a romantic stay at the hotel and take the opportunity to lie in bed all morning, visit friendly little villages in Quebec or the United States or pamper yourself at the spa!
  • Have a food marathon: if you can afford it, satisfy your taste buds and spend the whole weekend at the trendy restaurants of the moment! On a tight budget? Take advantage of this free time to cook elaborate recipes, set a table worthy of the name and enjoy!
  • Can't afford a hotel but still want to get away from home for a few days? Why not go on a camping weekend? You may not have the comfort of a hotel room, but you'll definitely have the peace and quiet of a kid-free weekend!

You have guards for only one day (that's already something!):

  • Take advantage of this break from the daily routine to try something new together! Whether it's a couple's dance class, a restaurant outing you've been wanting to do for a long time, or a skydive, take the opportunity to get out of the routine (which we appreciate, but which it's good to forget from time to time!).
  • It's a must-do that's always appreciated: take advantage of this day to relax in a spa and, if your means allow it, to treat yourself to the whole thing! Massage, facial, floating bath, allow yourself to be pampered and relax together.
  • Are you more of a homebody? Curl up on the couch, stock up on chips and candy, and have a movie marathon! Pick a series (Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc.) or your three or four favorite movies, and relax!

You have searched for a long time, but unfortunately we have no one to look after the children, even for an hour (it happens to all of us!):

  • Take advantage of the little ones' nap time to play a board game together or to complete a 1000-piece puzzle; moments of complicity guaranteed!
  • Get out of your routine and enjoy a walk with the kids to discover a new neighborhood or city near you. To make it truly special time for your couple, take the time to visit places you like, like a nice little cafe or a microbrewery.
  • The classics are classics for a reason: wait until the kids are in bed for the night and prepare a fondue or raclette that you can enjoy in peace, looking into each other's eyes (and, above all, without the incessant demands of the little ones!).
